2021 MLB Pipeline Sports Cards Trending

This time of the year we begin sizing up 2021 MLB sports cards and discern what the top MLB rookie cards to invest in are. And a great reference is the MLB pipeline. The MLB Pipeline annually ranks the top 100 MLB prospects.

2021 MLB Sports Cards Investments

1. Wander Franco SS – Tampa Bay Rays – A (Adv) – MLB 2021 – 19 5′ 10″ / 189 lbs S R

Wander Franco ROOKIE AUTO

The top overall 2021 Pipeline prospect is Wander Franco(eBay). Wander has been getting sports card collectors excited the day he came onto the scene. Franco has lived up to all the rookie hype and still only 19 years old. A true five tool star.

A prime metric I look at when measuring a young hitter is “Walk to Strikeout Ratio”. If a hitter develops a sound understanding of the strike zone at a young age success is sure to follow.

A solid Walk to Strikeout Ratio for a young hitter would be 1.0. This translates to a batter garnering a walk for every strikeout. Wander stands at 1.54 for his minor-league career. As a result he’s one of the young premier hitters in the minors.

The Rays at present have had a hard time keeping Wander down in the minors with the numbers he’s been putting up. I believe this is the year Franco obtains a fair number of bats at the MLB level. A leading long term Buy for 2021.

4. Spencer Torkelson(eBay) 3B/1B – Detroit Tigers – A (Full) – MLB 2022 – 21 6′ 1″ / 220 lbs R R

Spencer Torkelson’s newly released rookie cards are stirring lots of hype. Unluckily, the pandemic pilfered the 2020 MLB minor-league season and Torkelson has yet to register a minor-league statistic.

A brief look at his amateur statistics (Arizona State, Cape Cod League – Chatham)  and you why he the overall in the 2020 draft. Spencer jacked 54 home runs with a slugging percentage of .731 and an OPS of 1.198. Generally young sluggers struggle with their Walk to Strikeout Ratio, but Torkelson comes in at a tidy 1.02.

There’s no reason to not invest now in this young power hitter. Buy.

10. Cristian Pache OF – Atlanta Braves – MLB 2020 – 22 6′ 2″ / 215 lbs R R

Cristian Pache sports card values started rising with card collectors mid 2020. Cristian displays solid tools and stats during his minor-league history. And Pache plays for the Atlanta Braves. Rookie Atlanta Braves sports cards are always appealing to cardboard collectors. If Pache makes the Braves roster out of training camp, he’s definitely worth a look for sports card investors.
