“Uncle Jimmy” and His Museum-Worthy Baseball Card Collection

We tip our caps to “Uncle Jimmy” and his museum-worthy baseball card collection. At its heart, this is what card collecting is all about!

The collection was brought to light by the family of Jimmy Micioni, a Morris County, New Jersey collector who died recently at age 97. “Uncle Jimmy” to his family, Micioni was an avid baseball fan who devoted countless hours to collecting, acquiring and preserving a mountain of cards, autographs, photos and other memorabilia he’d been saving since the Depression era.

Uncle Jimmy’s historic find of a collection is so unique PSA has added an “Uncle Jimmy Collection” pedigree inscription to its graded labels. Now that’s something you don’t see every day. And well deserved that “Uncle Jimmy” lives on as a “Hall of Famer” card collector for all current and future collectors to revere.

This is a baseball card collector that didn’t buy autographs. Preferably, Uncle Jimmy sent letters from his heart to his favorite major league ballclubs and players. In return, the players and ballclubs sent back the cards autographed with other prized baseball collectible gifts.

You’re talking about cards that needed to be handled and sent to the players and autographed and then returned and then preserved. Overall, the preservation is terrific.

This incredible collection is likely worth millions of dollars and includes six 1933 Babe Ruth(eBay) Goudey’s signed by the Bambino! Wow! And all have been preserved meticulously with rich colors that still pop off the cardboard.

Because Uncle Jimmy preserved them so well, the colors retain their freshness and their brightness, so the eye appeal of the cards is tremendous because he took the time to preserve them the right way

This is a once in a lifetime find for all collectors to soak in and enjoy!
