Topps has led the way with digital sports trading cards via its Bunt app several years ago and can be credited in helping spawn and introduce digital sports trading cards to collectors. Building off that momentum Topps(eBay) will now release sports cards via NFT digital technology.

What is an NFT
NFTs are unique cryptocurrency tokens used to represent assets (like digital sports trading cards). NFTs are bought and sold, like physical assets, but since they run on blockchain, an encrypted digital tracking system, ownership and validity of the asset they represent can be tracked.
For example, if a creator puts an NFT-based digital sports card up for sale, a buyer could purchase a unique token that represents the asset and can then prove authenticity and ownership of the digital art through blockchain.
